I put some supermarket basil in water to root it and in gratitude for not tossing it on a pizza it gave me this nice bouquet!

Who remembers Casper the Friendly Ghost? Wasn’t that the most amazing idea for a cartoon? Just imagine the pitch meeting. “Hey, why don’t we make a cartoon about a kid who is ... dead?! And after having lost his family, he could be stuck forever in a dimension that’s filled with sociopathic adult ghosts. Wouldn’t that be hilarious? In each episode we could have him visit the living world as a painfully poignant reminder of what he has lost.”
"Ptobzz as bly"
THAT, my friends, is my latest text message. Or rather, what the Messenger app wanted to send out as my text until I noticed and cancelled. What was the intended content? "Probably". Hey, c'mon, that's not bad. Started with "P" and ended with "y", right?! Here's the thing. Let's assume you're Christian and I'm Jewish. And I say to you "What the hell is wrong with you? Don't you understand that your beliefs are ridiculous? Could you PLEASE forget Christmas - it's insane. Just celebrate Passover like normal people."
How successful would that be? Correct. Zero. In fact, less than zero - it would further entrench you in your current beliefs. So why WHY is Facebook (and every other outlet) full of people doing precisely the same thing - but with Republican/Democrat substituted for Christian/Jewish? Or with "current president/current not-president" being the opposing topics. It has never worked and it will never work. Politics and religion are identical in how they are wired into the human brain and those brains are identical in how they process those beliefs. At the very least one should post "Warning - Rant in support of X coming - if you're not in the supporting camp already don't bother reading. It's not meant for you." |
